Receive files in Google Drive

One key feature of File Request Pro it is the native Google Drive integration that let you use file requests links and upload pages to collect and receive files from anyone, right in your Google Drive account.

Some important features of the Google Drive Integration are:

  • Receive your files in Google Drive or Google Shared Drive which are available to G Suite users
  • Share your uploads folders
  • Automatically organize new uploads by creating a subfolder within the folder you choose.
  • Collect more information with custom form fields

How to connect your Google Drive Account

To allow File Request Pro to connect to your Google Drive account, you need to grant the required permission. To do so, from the Cloud Drive menu click on the “Connect Google Drive” button.

You will be redirected Google login screen where you can choose which account to use if you are already logged in, or enter your username and password if you are not.

After login in, you will be asked to allow File Request Pro to access your Google Drive folder of choice.

And finally, confirm your choice.

Once accepted the terms, you will be redirected to your File Request Pro dashboard.

A note about permissions

We required only the minimum permissions that allows File Request Pro to work.

  • Permission to view your name and email address. We need it to identify the user.
  • View and Manage files you open with this app. This means that if you grant permission to save files to your “Uploads” folder we will be only able to do so in that directory, we can't view, list, access, delete any file or folder outsize of that directory.

How to choose your upload folder

After connecting your Google Drive account, you can choose in which folder receive your files.

Select “Page settings” from your dashboard.

Under the tab “Uploading & File Destination“ you will find the following options.

When you click “Choose Folder“, a new window will open with your Google Drive folders.

{info} Please note that you will see all folders list in here. It's not a tree view so please use the search function to find the folder instead of navigating to it.

Choose the folder and click the select button to confirm your selection. You will be back to your page edit screen.

How can I use a shared drive?

If you have access to Google Shared folders, in the previous step just click shared drives in the file picker, and then choose the folder.

Troubleshooting file chooser problems

I see an error message when I try to choose a folder

Please click the Sign in button to log in to your Google Account and choose your folder.

If you cannot log in this screen please allow cookies for Google Account

Allow Third-party Cookies for G-Suite

Here are step-by-step instructions on how to enable third-party cookies in your Google Chrome browser. This will only allow cookies for G-Suite add-ons in Google Sheets, Form, Docs, and Google Sides.

Step 1: Open Google Chrome browser, click the settings' menu in the top right (3 vertical dots).

Step 2: Click the “Privacy and Security” option in the settings' pane.

Step 3: Expand the “Cookies and other site data” section under the Privacy and Security page.

Step 4: The “Block third-party cookies” setting should be selected to continue blocking all cookies except those served by G-Suite add-ons.

Step 5: Click the “Add” button under the section that says “Sites that can always use cookies” and enter the domain https://[*.] in the input box.

Click the “Add” button, reload your Google Form or Google Sheet and the add-on will continue to work as before.
