Submit to Cinder Magazine's Spring 2026 Issue

For the first issue of Cinder Magazine we are ready to start a fire. We are looking for a wide variety of art and literature submissions that explore themes of fire. We encourage you to be direct or abstract with the theme-- what does fire represent in your world? For a full look at the theme and FAQ about working with us please visit cindermagazine.com/issue1.

Literary Submissions

Literary submissions may include, but are not limited to: poetry, prose, short stories, screenplays, and other creative writing pieces. We ask that your submission does not exceed 3000 words. We are limited to the number of long-format pieces that we can publish, so please keep in mind that shorter pieces have a higher likelihood of being selected.

All literary submissions should be in PDF format. Please name each file using the format “Lastname_Title” Example: “Taylor_Cinder.pdf”. Files that do not meet these guidelines may not be considered. To upload multiple files: upload up to 5 files at once using your device's file browser, or submit one by one and click the colored background to upload more.

Visual Submissions

Art and visual submissions may include, but are not limited to: drawing, painting, digital art, graphic design, printmaking, sculpture, photography, fiber arts, wood arts, or mixed media. Each contributor may submit up to 8 visual submissions per issue.

All visual submissions should be 300dpi, CMYK, and either .jpg, .png, or.pdf format. (Max file size: 10MB) Please name each file using the format “Lastname_Title” Example: “Taylor_Cinder.png”. Files that do not meet these guidelines may not be considered. To upload multiple files: upload up to 8 files at once using your computer's file browser, or submit one by one and click the colored background to upload more.

Cover Sheet

Please submit a PDF cover sheet to go along with your submission. Format is not important but the cover sheet must include your first and last name, and a list of all titles of the pieces being submitted. For all visual submissions please also list the mediums and size of the actual piece if applicable. You may include an artist/author summary and/or descriptions for each piece if you'd like to share more, but this is not required. If selected we may ask for additional information at a later time. *

By submitting to Cinder Magazine, you agree that you identify as an author/creative who lives with chronic illness, neurodivergence, mental illness, and/or disabilities.

Cinder aims to platform voices in these marginalized communities and we are grateful for your honesty. We will never require you to prove or disclose your conditions, though you may disclose anything you wish in the pieces you submit.

By submitting to Cinder Magazine, you acknowledge and agree with the following statements:

I permit Cinder Magazine to publish the work submitted by me in the Cinder Magazine publication, website, social media, multimedia, DVD or promotional materials. Cinder Magazine claims first world electronic rights (text and audio), first print rights, and non-exclusive anthology rights. All rights are restricted to English language unless specifically stated otherwise.

I confirm and agree to the following:

All work submitted by me is my original work and does not illegally infringe upon any other individual or entity. Cinder Magazine does not accept AI generated content. As the author/artist I retain all reprint copyrights to the submitted work. All source material from other work(s) have been acknowledged within the body or text of work or in footnotes or credits. I indemnify any and hold harmless Cinder Magazine from any intellectual property claims by any third party. If the work submitted by me is accepted, I am entitled to one mailed copy of the edition in which my work appears if I am within the United States. If I am outside of the United States, copies will be mailed with applicable shipping fees. I have fully read, understood and agreed to the aforementioned terms.

We are hoping to diversify our content as much as possible. This data helps us understand which community(ies) our submissions are coming from. If you'd like to help us keep things diverse please let us know which group(s) you identify with. This information is completely optional and does not impact your submission status. Privacy and ethical data collection is our top priority: this information will never be shared outside of Cinder Magazine's leadership team without explicit permission.
