APPLICATION RULES

1. Team Eligibility

  • Applications are open to anyone who meets the eligibility requirements outlined below.

  • Teams must consist of two (2) members.

  • All participants must be at least 18 years of age at the time of the event.

  • Proof of age will be required for teams selected to advance beyond the initial application round.

2. Event Overview

  • The Amazing Brain Race is an all-day event that includes:

    • Traveling primarily by foot throughout the designated contest area

    • Participation in physical and mental challenges

  • The race is a rain or shine event.

  • The event is scheduled to take place on June 6, 2026, in Downtown New Bern, North Carolina.

3. Representation & Conduct

  • Selected teams will be representing our organization and charitable cause.

  • Teams are expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship at all times.

  • Participants must treat all fellow competitors, event staff, volunteers, patrons, observers, and the general public with respect and courtesy.

  • Failure to comply with race rules or conduct expectations may result in disqualification at any stage of the process or during the event.

4. Initial Application Requirements

  • To apply, teams must submit a 1-minute video that includes both team members.

  • The video must clearly state:

    • Each participant’s first name

    • The team’s reason for applying to participate in The Amazing Brain Race

  • Videos that exceed the time limit or do not include both team members may not be considered.

5. Application Deadline

  • The application period ends on April 15, 2026.

  • Late submissions will not be accepted, regardless of reason.

6. Selection Process

  • The selection process will occur in two rounds:

Round One

  • Teams selected in the first round will receive:

    • A detailed application

    • General race rules and requirements

    • Requests for proof of age

  • Teams must agree to all general race rules and requirements to remain eligible.

Round Two

  • After review, 10 teams will be selected to participate.

  • 2 alternate teams will also be selected.

7. Final Documentation

  • Final teams and alternates will be required to complete additional documentation, including but not limited to:

    • Media consent and release forms

    • Confidentiality agreements

    • Liability waivers

    • Any additional required forms or information

  • Failure to complete required documentation by stated deadlines may result in forfeiture of a team’s spot.

8. Alternate Teams

  • Alternate teams must be available and prepared to participate.

  • Alternates will be required to report to the Race start/finish location on race day.

  • If a selected team is unable to participate on race day, an alternate team may be asked to step in.

9. Health & Safety

  • Participants should be in good physical and mental condition to safely complete the event.

  • Teams participate at their own risk and are responsible for managing personal health needs during the race.

10. Rule Changes & Final Authority

  • Event organizers reserve the right to modify rules, schedules, or race elements if necessary for safety, logistics, or fairness.

All decisions made by race officials are final.
